Only on Nip/Tuck will you see a serial killer con-woman stumbling into another random serial killer right in the middle of her own murderous scheme. I don't know if that's poor writing or just the worst luck in the world. Teddy's demise was pretty hilarious, something I'm not sure the show was aiming for, and I enjoyed her last-minute plot to dispatch Sean, Annie and Conor. She's one ruthless asshole. Her interaction with Annie prior to the camping trip was also a lot of fun, in particular her sniping about 'mentally unstable' pre-teen girls. Heh.
Matt's story went down the one route it could logically go down, with him ending up shot after a robbery went bad. There were some amusing moments to this subplot, but it felt too similar to Matt's previous screw-ups (notably his meth addiction) to truly work. And that Asian shopkeeper was a really bad actress. How do these people get work?
I've said this before, but patient storylines work best when they're thematically linked with the stories of the main ensemble. Jenny Juggs, an elaborate ripped-from-the-headlines freak show, was embarrassing comedy at its worst. Everybody looked humiliated, and whoever thought watching a lady smash up a telephone with her tits is funny really needs to re-think what makes great television. Ugh.
Besides the nutty resolution to the Teddy arc, Jenny Juggs felt a lot like a filler episode. But a filler that felt unusually unfocused, the script pulled in some messy and incomprehensible directions. D+
